Excellent place for a meal. We found this through Yelp & were quite pleased. They serve dinner Tuesday - Saturday as well. Staff service = 5 stars. Quite friendly. Greeted us immediately upon entering. Blueberry pancakes, eggs, toast & hash browns = 5 stars. Excellent value. Cleanliness, including restrooms = 5 stars. HUGE pancakes!! Definitely recommend & will return when in area again.

Great food day or night. Small place so expect a wait during peek times. But well worth it.

Had the Perch Dinner. It was very good the seasonal vegetables were very good. If you want to find a restaurant that is a very local place this is it.

Cool neighborhood place that is off the tourist stretch. Staff was nice, food was average. We had a Stanz Skillet, which is a scrambled egg dish, and the corned beef hash. The skillet was good but lacking flavor. The hash was simply chunks of corned beef mixed with hash browns. The bread, however, was excellent. Both the marble rye and the dark rye had great flavor. Solid meal if you are in GH, but not a must stop type of place.

We had the special and ham and cheese omelet and it was fantastic. We had Miss Net as our server and she was fantastic! There was no wait for our food and it was pretty busy in there. It was beyond delicious! I recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

My wife and I have been to Stanz several times, always pleased with the experience. A very small joint with less than a dozen tables, plenty of bar/counter seating, and a nice, quiet atmosphere, looking new with nice woodwork around the bar. Usually going for breakfast, this time we were in for lunch. I had the ruben with fries and my wife had the shrimp po'boy with onion rings. Simple lunch food but delicious, the corned beef was wonderful and the rye even better, but the shrimp po'boy was something special -- spicy and perfectly done. I understand they get their meat from the butcher next door, and their bread from the bakery across the street -- two huge reasons why I respect and enjoy this local place. Another is their somewhat strange and interesting menu, with options ranging from farm style breakfast to Greek Hash, and Cajun/Creole items. No idea how "authentic" the surprising Louisiana options are, but I really enjoy the flavors, spices, Andouille, and fresh ingredients. My only negative is the seating can be close together if this small eatery is crowded, but for the local meat and bread, for the interesting menu, the great service and nice flavors, I recommend a visit to this small-town joint.

Stanz is a great place for breakfast, especially when trying to get away from the tourist during summer weekends. The staff is always friendly and does a great job recognizing the locals. My personal favorite is the Greek Hash and if I'm feeling like a little pep in my morning the Bloody Mary's are AWESOME!

Reasonable prices, great food, and outstanding service. We had to wait (which is usually a good sign of good food and good service) and they kept coming out and making sure we were ok. They brought us water and coffee while we waited and kept apologizing. Service was stellar once we sat down. I never had an empty glass. I saw some reviews of sub-par service, so I figured I'd make it known that not only was the food outstanding, but the service was outstanding as well. Stanz is also attached to a meat market that the locals raved about. They use all their own meats at Stanz, which are obviously highly regarded. I'd definitely recommend this place or Morning Star Cafe for breakfast - or alternate between the two if you're there for more than one morning!

I was here two days in a row and I bellied up to the counter both times. The first day I had a half order of biscuits and gravy and corned beef hash with marbled rye. Be warned a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy is ample. It comes with a generous portion of hash browns. The corned beef hash was prepared unusually with finely diced corned beef mixed with hash brown potatoes. It was still pretty tasty just not what I was expecting. The marble rye came from the bakery across the street which, I liked that neighborhood touch. Next day I had a lunch special they were running -- roast beef and pastrami, roasted peppers, and fresh mozzarella on grilled rye with fries. I think it was rye. I forgot. It was pretty gosh darn tasty. Especially considering the price. The first day with CB hash, 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy, and coffee was fifteen bones and change. The second day with house brewed ice tea was less than ten bucks. Service was above par -- friendly, speedy. It's a great place. It beats Russ' that's for sure. It's a little off the beaten path of Grand Haven but, GH get too inundated with tourists especially during Coast Guard, I think off the beaten path is an asset.

The food is excellent, but plan on spending some time there. I have waited over an hour for food before. The servers can be rude depending on who you get and if it is busy--as if you are a nuisance and they have better things to do than deliver food/drinks and provide excellent customer service. If you have the time to kill try the steak and eggs-the beef is from Frank's.

Less pretentious than the Morningstar and certainly less expensive, Stanz is the kind of unassuming joint where the staff will know your name after your first visit, and what you usually order after your third or fourth. Fantastic breakfasts (try the biscuits with sausage gravy or Stanz' Scramble), delicious sandwiches, and a killer smelt basket. Chatty, friendly, tasty; you won't wait for an hour, and you won't leave hungry. My new go-to place in town for breakfast.
